Golden Week arrivals to Hawaii down 15.6%

Data from the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism showed a 15.6 percent decrease in the number of passengers arriving from Japan. DBEDT said there were 33,494 passengers arriving during Golden Week, which ran from April 29 to May 6, compared with 39,663 during the same period last year. DBEDT data includes returning residents, intended residents and visitors.

Golden Week is the long holiday starting around the end of April through beginning of May in Japan when people usually take a vacation.
