Hawaii 20th for mortgage closing costs

Hawaii ranked 20th in a survey by Bankrate Inc. of closing costs, which continue to climb despite the weak housing market.

The study found the Hawaii's closing costs averaged $3,134 this year. The national average is $3,118. According to the article, Hawaii's ranking fell considerably from last year's No. 6 spot among the 56 locales surveyed.
